About the Holy Spirit
About the Holy Spirit. Have you ever wished to have someone by your side who is very loyal to you and would never disappoint you? Someone that will tell truth at all cost, defend you when things get though, comfort you when you feel down, someone that you can tell your deepest secrets and won’t judge you neither will the person use it against you when a quarrel erupts?
You can have someone like that and He is the Holy Spirit.
Let me give you a brief description of the Holy Spirit. He is the third person in the trinity i.e God the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God has been there right from the beginning even before the foundation of the world (Gen 2). He is the Spirit of God the father that’s why he can search all things including the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2: 10).
God the Father and God the Son are in Heaven but God the Spirit is on earth and He will leave earth together with the saints of God once the rapture takes place.
Jesus before leaving told us that He would send the comforter to us.
Bible passages
John 16: 7
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
John 14: 26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The Book of Acts 2 vs 1- 4 talks about the Holy Spirit, how He came to earth, was seen in the midst of men as a cloven tongue of fire and the signs and wonders that accompanied Him. Jesus had already told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high (Luke 24: 49). This is because He knew they couldn’t accomplish much without the help of the Holy Spirit.
What a wonderful gift that we have the Spirit of God with us. He is our most dependable helper and our guide. People who don’t know this truth suffer in life and go through various forms of hardship that would have been avoided only if they knew Him.
Every child of God has the Holy Spirit in them. Once you are born again, you have the Holy Spirit in you. Paul speaking in 2 Timothy 1: 6 tells us to stir up the gift in us.
It is your duty to develop yourself further by studying the Word. By doing so, your spirit man grows and you’ll be able to connect well with the Holy Spirit.
More about Him
The Holy Spirit makes life much easier for you and you cannot be in control without His help. He is a person, a Spiritual being that you can communicate with. One can ask questions and receive answers from Him and He helps you to pray (Romans 8: 26). When you feel low and depressed, all you need to do is stay calm and listen to what He has to say. Within a few minutes, you are up again. He’s always got your back.
If you are on the wrong path, He cautions you (it’s left for you to obey or not). He does not force you to do something. The Spirit of God is always ready to listen and always available to help. He has emotions and the more you obey Him, the more He is encouraged to keep walking with you. There is no off point question with Him and despite your being weak, He believes in you.
Even Jesus, while on earth was led by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 4: 1, Luke 4: 1) and had the Holy Spirit without measure (John 3: 34). The Spirit of God speaks about Jesus, He tells us more about the person of Jesus while on earth Jesus spoke about the Father. John 16: 13 says, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come”.
This Scripture simply tells us that whatever the Spirit of God hears Jesus and The Father say is what He relays back to us.
How the Holy Spirit Helps Us
In times of trouble, He gives us Peace. He tells us what to do to come out of that trouble. Sometimes we may be pricked in our spirit to pray concerning something we may or may not know. This is Him telling us to pray against danger ahead.
Secondly, we may feel uneasy in our Spirit regarding a particular situation whether or not we should go. That is Him directing us.
In prayers, He helps us because sometimes we pray wrongly or not according to the will of God. When we pray in the Spirit, He gives us utterance on what to say concerning that matter.
Furthermore, when we’ve forgotten something, He reminds us and helps us understand things better both academically and in other aspects of life.
Regarding the Word of God, He opens our eyes to see what the Word of God says about us rather than reading it like a storybook.
When everyone is against you, He teams up with you and at the end of the day, you emerge victoriously.
God the Holy Spirit is also there when you feel down and depressed. He comforts you and lifts your spirit by telling you of the better things ahead thereby making you feel much better.
Other ways He helps
Regarding your purpose in life, He is there to show you the way to go and help you in completing your God-given task.
And many more……..
You can read a Christian book to know more about the Spirit of God. Good morning Holy Spirit, a book written by Benny Hinn changed my life.
In the days of old before Jesus came, only prophets, kings and those who were separated by God had access to the Spirit of God but after Jesus came, died, rose up and went back to Heaven, the Spirit of God became accessible to all.
The only way you can have Him is by accepting Jesus into your life.
It is important that you accept Jesus into your life if you haven’t and let Him be your personal Lord and Saviour. If you are in this category, join me in the salvation prayer.
